What is Infertility?
Sometimes women are unable to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse or due to some health problems couple suffers inability of not becoming parents, those couples are known as infertile couples, suffering from the infertility.
Infertility is the inability of not conceiving after a period of trying. It also refers to the biological inability of women who cannot conceive or carry a baby to its full term. Whereas in men, it is the inability to produce a healty sperm sample which ultimately results in unsuccessful attempt for the female to get pregnant.
Various reasons and factors are there to affect risk of fertility, such as: age, hectic life schedule, women are avoiding sex and become more career oriented, smoking, alcohol consumption, eating disorder, overweight, less weight, exposure to some chemicals, mental stress, etc. Infertility can be two types, primary infertility and secondary infertility.
Primary infertile couples have never been able to conceive nor in their first chance, while secondary infertile couples suffer infertility treatment after already conceiving, at least once.
Reasons for female infertility in India:
In today’s society, women are delaying pregnancy and as a result they attempting for pregnancy in their late 30s and 40s, which give rise to infertility as:
- Failure to ovulate
- Poorly functioning fallopian tubes
- Abnormal uterus
- Diet, smoking, alcohol and drugs etc
- Hormonal causes
- Cervical causes
Reasons for male infertility in India:
Infertility is not only the female problem some men are also suffering from this trauma due to the following reasons:
- Low sperm count
- Sperm absence
- Problem in sperm movement
- Sperm delivery problem
- Other sexual problems
Various treatment options are now available for the infertility issues for female as well as for male like IVF, ICSI, IUI, Surrogacy, egg donation, adoption and surgical treatment. Every infertility treatment has its own benefits and risks involved so it is good to learn and know all the information before going to adopt treatment option.
